SUMMARY:Chatham County Schools: Special Session
LOCATION:Central Services Meeting Rooms 468 Renaissance Drive
DESCRIPTION:Board of Education\n\nThe school board and the county commissioners met together to hear three presentations on the same question: how fast Chatham is about to grow and what that means for schools and infrastructure.\n\nChatham Park's developers laid out a build-out of about 27\,000 units across 8\,500 acres\, including two school sites they are giving the district. NC State's forecasting group followed with the enrollment projection that comes out of it\, and county staff closed with an update on broadband grants and the digital inclusion plan adopted in December.\n\nWatch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hIGUezkJ5k\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/2597

SUMMARY:Chatham County Schools: Regular Session
LOCATION:Central Services Board Room 468 Renaissance Drive
DESCRIPTION:Board of Education\n\nTwo things dominated the September meeting: a demographer's forecast that Chatham's school enrollment turns sharply upward once Pittsboro and Siler City finish their sewer work in 2027\, and last year's testing results\, in which every school in the district met or exceeded growth.\n\nThe board also adopted its budget resolution for 2025-26 with about $2.8 million of federal money still not appropriated\, corrected two policies\, and passed a resolution marking Arts and Education Week. First readings covered a new policy on wireless devices in schools required by state law\, along with twelve other policy updates.\n\nWatch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPMnWkUzZY4\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/2602
