SUMMARY:City of Durham: Regular City Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Regular City Council Meeting\n\nDurham's council would award Crowder Industrial Construction a $70 million contract for the Lake Michie and Little River Raw Water Pump Station Improvements. It is the largest sum on a 33-item agenda dominated by water and sewer work. A companion ordinance would reallocate capital improvement funding for the same project.\n\nThe council also holds public hearings on two annexations and three rezonings\, including sites near a Durham school and North Carolina Central University. It would adopt an ordinance setting new ward boundaries after redistricting and fill five seats on city boards and commissions. It would also fund a seven-month shelter contract with Open Table Ministry for people experiencing homelessness in cold weather.\n\nAgenda: https://durham.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=2892\nWatch: https://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3247

SUMMARY:City of Durham: Durham City Council
DESCRIPTION:Durham City Council\n\nDurham's city council turned over on 4 December 2023. The meeting certified the 7 November municipal election\, handed out election certificates\, and gave outgoing members their remarks before they retired from the dais. Nate Baker\, Javiera Caballero\, Carl Rist and Leonardo Williams were then sworn in\, the newly elected mayor spoke\, and the council appointed a mayor pro tempore.\n\nOne consequence followed immediately: under other matters\, Mayor Williams resigned the Ward 3 council seat he had held. The council filled it the following month\, swearing in Chelsea Cook on 16 January. Three land use items also sat outside the consent block: a consolidated annexation for the 5802 South Miami Boulevard multifamily site\, and zoning map changes at 618 Morehead Avenue and for Oaks at Gray. Durham's portal no longer serves the agenda document\, so what each land use case covers is not in the surviving record.\n\nAgenda: https://durham.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=2957\nWatch: https://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3302

SUMMARY:City of Durham: Regular City Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Regular City Council Meeting\n\nDurham's Dec. 1 city council meeting begins with an organizational session\, then moves to a consent agenda covering a board appointment\, minutes approval\, several infrastructure and utility contracts (Lakewood Avenue stream stabilization\, an Esri GIS licensing agreement\, and waterline/water-treatment-plant contract amendments)\, a homelessness-services contract extension with Open Table Ministry\, and a CDBG-funded rehab agreement for the Calvert Place and Main Street Townhomes. A proposal to designate 500 West Main Street as the permanent home of the Museum of Durham History was referred back to staff.\n\nIn general business\, council appoints two members to the Citizens Advisory Committee and holds a public hearing on a rezoning for the East Geer Towns project\, which would rezone land near I-85 to Planned Development Residential. A supplemental item covers certified results of the Oct. 7 primary and a verbal report on the Nov. 4 general election.\n\nAgenda: https://durham.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=3260\nWatch: https://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/1575
