SUMMARY:City of Durham: Regular City Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Regular City Council Meeting\n\nDurham's council awarded a $20\,355\,978 construction contract to Moffat Pipe on December 2\, 2024\, to rehabilitate and replace utilities along the West Club Boulevard corridor\, with $2\,035\,597 in contingency behind it. The same agenda carried a condemnation resolution taking an easement at 1025 Ninth Street for that project\, and a $267\,508.66 engineering amendment with Dewberry that pushes its design contract to $2\,150\,615.87.\n\nFour public hearings closed the evening. Two were rezonings\, Vivo Living Ivy Creek to Planned Development Residential and a Hillsborough Road parcel to Commercial Infill. One was a statutory vested rights determination for Davis Park Pod G\, fixing its site plan expiry at December 2\, 2029. The last would permanently close 2\,899 square feet of the old Victory Lane cul-de-sac. Elsewhere on the consent agenda\, the council took up $1\,000\,000 in federal recovery money for the Fayetteville Street corridor\, accepted $750\,000 from Durham County for digital equity work and $297\,140 from the Department of Energy for rooftop solar at the W.D. Hill Recreation Center\, and confirmed five appointments to the Civilian Police Review Board.\n\nAgenda: https://durham.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=3150\nWatch: https://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3284

SUMMARY:City of Durham: Regular City Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Regular City Council Meeting\n\nDurham's council adopts the 2025-26 budget and the 2026-31 capital improvement plan on 16 June. The same item raises every city pay plan by 1.45 percent — open range\, step\, fire and police — lifts part-time starting rates by the same\, and widens the part-time step spreads from 3 to 5 percent. Six capital project ordinances go with it\, covering general projects\, water and wastewater\, stormwater\, solid waste\, transit and the performing arts centre\, alongside fee increases for solid waste\, public works\, and water and sewer.\n\nHousing and homelessness run through the rest of the agenda: an operational assistance loan to the Durham Housing Authority\, contracts with the North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness\, Housing for New Hope and Volunteers of America\, and an update on the redevelopment of 505 W. Chapel Hill Street. Three separate condemnation actions would take easements the city could not obtain by agreement.\n\nAgenda: https://durham.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=3218\nWatch: https://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3277

SUMMARY:City of Durham: Regular City Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Regular City Council Meeting\n\nDurham's council held a public hearing Thursday on an incentive agreement with AbbVie worth up to $9\,312\,721\, the only hearing on the agenda. Two more lift station contracts went to Carolina Civilworks for $2.3 million and $4.3 million.\n\nThe council also voted on a resolution adopting the Durham Cultural Roadmap\, presented at the September 10 work session\, and on filling seats on the Durham Housing Authority board and the Workers' Rights Commission. The consent agenda ran to two dozen items: 32 patrol vehicles and their up-fitting for $2.2 million together\, a $375\,000 public art contract at the Durham Aquatics Center\, land purchases for three sidewalk and bike projects including a condemnation on South Roxboro Street\, and $350\,000 of watershed protection money for the Tar River Land Conservancy's Dykes tracts.\n\nAgenda: https://durham.granicus.com/AgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&event_id=2082\nWatch: https://durham.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=2\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3944
