SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's town board annexed 24.5 acres at 8514 Purfoy Road on 14 July 2025 and set August hearings on five more annexation petitions. It also agreed to spend up to 1.2 million dollars on a vacant parcel at 0 Ellis Street\, and signed a 40-year agreement letting Wake County run emergency medical services out of part of Fire Station 4.\n\nThe board authorized its attorney\, jointly with Holly Springs\, to begin condemnation proceedings for utility easements along the Sanford waterline conveyance project. One commissioner was recused from that item.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_07142025-519\nWatch: https://youtu.be/xOBCIqUmpAA?si=z5iV14DgHOv05Pln\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/590

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nA presentation on Wake County's 50-year water plan turned into a complaint about the county on 16 September 2025. A commissioner with more than ten years on the Fuquay-Varina board said he has never seen the county meaningfully support the town's water infrastructure\, and noted the county denied the town's attempt to extend its planning jurisdiction east\, which is where many contaminated wells sit.\n\nThe board also voted to issue 10 million dollars of voter-approved transportation bonds\, ordered a building at 110 Fayetteville Street demolished\, and awarded a 167\,789.60 dollar contract for accessibility improvements at Fuquay Avenue and Raleigh Street. Four members were present and every vote was 4-0.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_09162025-527\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/pwHjkjZrz34?feature=share\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/586

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Planning Board Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Planning Board\n\nThree rezonings\, all recommended 6-0\, and each driven by something specific the current zoning will not allow. One property owner has a tenant who wants to open a salon. Another pair are nearing retirement and preparing to sell to commercial interests. The third wants to divide an upstairs living area into two rental apartments.\n\nThe third case is the one worth noting: staff acknowledged the rezoning does not match the land use plan\, so the petitioner asked to change the plan instead. The board also marked a member's departure after ten years.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10202025-529\nWatch: https://youtu.be/Mr067XXpnQc?list=PLrJHixxvd6CijcgAMYU4BRNPmtggTmUIU\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/616

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe organizational meeting after the election. A new mayor and two commissioners took the oath of office\, Marilyn Gardner was re-elected mayor pro tem for a two-year term\, and the mayor reported his committee appointments.\n\nThe board then set out how it would fill the seat left vacant\, adopting an application process with a fixed six-week schedule running from advertising the vacancy in December to the new member taking office on February 2. Every vote was 4-0\, taken a member short.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_12012025-534\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/UG-eAa0D64s\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/581

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Planning Board Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Planning Board\n\nThe planning board recommended rezoning 11.57 acres on Rogers Road from residential agricultural to a mix of research light industrial and corridor commercial conditional zoning. The chair recused himself and the vice chair presided for that item.\n\nA separate rezoning on Purfoy Road was held over to February so the applicant's engineer could finish a traffic impact analysis. The board also recommended a preliminary plat on Phelps West Road and marked the departure of its chair after nearly eight years.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_12152025-536\nWatch: https://youtu.be/gtQ2Rwd5SZs?list=PLrJHixxvd6CijcgAMYU4BRNPmtggTmUIU\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/614

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe board gave a hotel developer another eighteen months\, amending the local incentive agreement for the Tru by Hilton project to extend completion to June 30\, 2027. It also ordered demolition of a building on Longfellow Street\, picked a design firm for Willow Spring Park\, and received the audited financial report for the year ending June 2025.\n\nMuch of the meeting was housekeeping after the December organizational meeting: ratifying planning board and board of adjustment appointments and naming members to the parks advisory board. Nobody spoke at public comment and there were no public hearings.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_12162025-537\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/DwlayI0PKnw\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/580

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Planning Board Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Planning Board\n\nWith the chair absent and no vice chair yet elected\, the board swore in two new members and appointed an interim chair before it could take up any business. The vice chair election itself was pushed to the next meeting.\n\nIt then recommended two rezonings. One moves 8.51 acres on Johnson Pond Road toward medium density residential\, the other lets an insurance business and a basement antique shop occupy a building on N Main Street that its current zoning would not allow.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_01132026-539\nWatch: https://youtu.be/12KuXzpEcKg?list=PLrJHixxvd6CijcgAMYU4BRNPmtggTmUIU\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/613

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Adjustment Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Adjustment\n\nThe board approved a special use permit letting an in-home daycare on Ivey Grove Court expand\, 6-0\, with all four findings of fact carried unanimously. Nobody appeared to object\, though the town had received a letter and an email opposing it\, both given to members.\n\nThe meeting also swore in new members and elected a vice-chair for the year. Staff said no February applications had been filed\, so the next scheduled meeting would be given over to annual training.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_01142026-540\nWatch: https://youtu.be/FhrxA6qrG-A?list=PLrJHixxvd6Cilw-KPA7iOo2eiazsCTZAR\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/595

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Strategic Town Board Retreat-Feb. 5-6\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe board spent two days setting priorities and\, on the two biggest questions\, chose restraint. It will advance one of four candidate transportation projects\, and only after testing what it does to town finances\, having concluded that the existing $57 million portfolio must be substantially finished before taking on another that could move the property tax rate.\n\nOn parks it did the same. The five-year plan was built around a $60 million bond referendum that failed in 2024\, and recreation fees in lieu will not cover it. The board picked two projects\, Action Park improvements and the Fleming Loop turf conversion\, and deliberately left the rest until it has another year of growth data.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_02052026-575\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/576

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Planning Board Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Planning Board\n\nThe planning board recommended rezoning 220 W Academy Street so the local food pantry can build its own home. The pantry currently rents space at that address and has bought the property.\n\nThe board also elected a vice-chair for 2026 and received word that a separate rezoning on Purfoy Road had been withdrawn by the petitioner.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_02162026-547\nWatch: https://youtu.be/ZVy9SEw7kUQ?list=PLrJHixxvd6CijcgAMYU4BRNPmtggTmUIU\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/612

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nNineteen residents spoke\, and fourteen of them came to oppose the town's proposed improvements to Hilltop Needmore Town Park. The board took no vote on the park\; every member answered from the dais instead\, and the mayor set out why the town is looking at the 148-acre site at all.\n\nThe agenda itself moved without dissent: an annexation on Johnson Pond Road\, two rezonings from residential to town center residential\, three code amendments carrying the land development ordinance and both 2040 plans\, and an eleven-item consent agenda. The board also picked a design-build team for Fleming Loop Park.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_05042026-558\nWatch: https://youtu.be/lE19B1UHfSc\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/570
