SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's town board annexed 24.5 acres at 8514 Purfoy Road on 14 July 2025 and set August hearings on five more annexation petitions. It also agreed to spend up to 1.2 million dollars on a vacant parcel at 0 Ellis Street\, and signed a 40-year agreement letting Wake County run emergency medical services out of part of Fire Station 4.\n\nThe board authorized its attorney\, jointly with Holly Springs\, to begin condemnation proceedings for utility easements along the Sanford waterline conveyance project. One commissioner was recused from that item.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_07142025-519\nWatch: https://youtu.be/xOBCIqUmpAA?si=z5iV14DgHOv05Pln\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/590

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nSix annexations and a rezoning came before Fuquay-Varina's town board on 4 August 2025\, and one of them drew four neighbors in opposition: about 10 acres at 3799 Well Fleet Drive\, near Kennebec Road. The mayor used the hearing to explain that the town cannot annex anyone against their will\, that the only question before the board was whether water and sewer can reach the property\, and that Willow Springs is a postal designation rather than an incorporated town.\n\nThe board adopted its 2025-2029 strategic plan and signed a lease with Wake County for land at 7069 Kennebec Road\, next to Willow Springs Elementary\, for a future town park. Every vote was 5-0.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08042025-521\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/ZrknsG_0Ehs\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/589

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's town board approved a social district at the Bengal Towne Centre on 19 August 2025\, over the objection of one commissioner who cited 25 years working in substance abuse and said the town should not promote alcohol consumption. His motion to table the item until the town had data on how its existing social districts perform died for lack of a second. The district runs noon to 10 pm\, seven days a week.\n\nEverything else passed 5-0\, including a wastewater asset management plan\, a consultant for a police department needs assessment\, a rezoning on Longfellow Street\, and supplemental agreements bringing in more national opioid settlement money.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08192025-525\nWatch: https://youtu.be/VjBSmaKD7vY?si=uybXIwf4VI5_kbNt\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/588

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Meeting of the Parks & Rec Advisory Board
DESCRIPTION:Parks & Recreation Advisory Board\n\nFuquay-Varina's parks advisory board heard on 8 September 2025 that fall youth sports registration reached 4\,490\, up about seven percent\, and that the town now runs the largest youth sports program in Wake County\, 71 percent bigger than the second largest. Soccer alone drew 1\,903 players.\n\nTwo capital projects have stalled. Bids for lights on the Banks Road baseball field came back well over budget\, so that work is on hold until early 2026\, and restroom construction at both Willow Lakes Park and Banks Road Park is on hold. The board took no votes beyond approving its May minutes and adjourned in 39 minutes.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_09082025-544\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/606

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nA presentation on Wake County's 50-year water plan turned into a complaint about the county on 16 September 2025. A commissioner with more than ten years on the Fuquay-Varina board said he has never seen the county meaningfully support the town's water infrastructure\, and noted the county denied the town's attempt to extend its planning jurisdiction east\, which is where many contaminated wells sit.\n\nThe board also voted to issue 10 million dollars of voter-approved transportation bonds\, ordered a building at 110 Fayetteville Street demolished\, and awarded a 167\,789.60 dollar contract for accessibility improvements at Fuquay Avenue and Raleigh Street. Four members were present and every vote was 4-0.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_09162025-527\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/pwHjkjZrz34?feature=share\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/586

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's town board took on more than 4 million dollars in state and regional road\, sidewalk and greenway money on 6 October 2025\, including 2\,847\,000 dollars from a metropolitan planning grant for pedestrian improvements between Lincoln Heights and Bridge Street. It also settled a property purchase for 450\,000 dollars to site a future elevated water tank.\n\nTwo residents used public comment to return to a half-demolished house on Longfellow Street\, and the mayor called the builder's handling of it unacceptable and embarrassing. Every vote was 5-0. GoRaleigh told the board its express bus to Raleigh ends on 2 January 2026 and is replaced by an on-demand service.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10062025-528\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/3Q-K7wCo4h8\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/585

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe board accepted $858\,207.50 from two developments in place of building the road and greenway improvements those projects would otherwise owe: $305\,731.43 from the Harvest District subdivision and $552\,476.07 from a project on NC 42.\n\nIt also started five voluntary annexations toward their hearings and took first readings of three zoning map amendments. All five annexations and all three rezonings were adopted at the following meeting on November 3.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10212025-530\nWatch: https://youtu.be/FwUsH30dM88?list=PLrJHixxvd6Ci2aafHFuW8lHGncfBKWeuB\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/584

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe board gave a hotel developer another eighteen months\, amending the local incentive agreement for the Tru by Hilton project to extend completion to June 30\, 2027. It also ordered demolition of a building on Longfellow Street\, picked a design firm for Willow Spring Park\, and received the audited financial report for the year ending June 2025.\n\nMuch of the meeting was housekeeping after the December organizational meeting: ratifying planning board and board of adjustment appointments and naming members to the parks advisory board. Nobody spoke at public comment and there were no public hearings.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_12162025-537\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/DwlayI0PKnw\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/580

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFive residents used public comment to endorse Qisoundra Flowers for the vacant commissioner seat. The board filled that seat two weeks later with a different appointee\, Larry Smith.\n\nThe Rogers Road rezoning was tabled to January 20 at the applicant's request\, where it was then adopted. The board annexed a property on Eden Trail\, set its budget development schedule for 2026-2027\, and approved two budget amendments.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_01052026-538\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/hH4dho2xTws?feature=share\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/579

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Meeting of the Parks & Rec Advisory Board
DESCRIPTION:Parks & Recreation Advisory Board\n\nThe board appointed a vice chair and worked through the town's park construction list. The numbers staff brought were the most striking part: youth basketball registrations up 22 percent on the year and adult athletic registrations up 45.9 percent.\n\nDesign concepts for the South Park Community Center renovation have arrived from the architect and come back to this board for feedback at a future meeting. The Library Park design drew heavy public response through the town's engagement platform.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_01122026-546\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/604

DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe board filled its vacant commissioner seat\, appointing Larry Smith on a motion from the mayor pro tem. Every other vote that night was taken 4-0\, with the seat still empty.\n\nIt also closed out the Hilltop Needmore Town Park community center project by ordinance\, awarded design and construction contracts for two other parks\, rezoned 11.57 acres on Rogers Road\, and authorized condemnation proceedings on two water line projects.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_01202026-541\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/VpJv5lBN5Go?feature=share\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/578

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Strategic Town Board Retreat-Feb. 5-6\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe board spent two days setting priorities and\, on the two biggest questions\, chose restraint. It will advance one of four candidate transportation projects\, and only after testing what it does to town finances\, having concluded that the existing $57 million portfolio must be substantially finished before taking on another that could move the property tax rate.\n\nOn parks it did the same. The five-year plan was built around a $60 million bond referendum that failed in 2024\, and recreation fees in lieu will not cover it. The board picked two projects\, Action Park improvements and the Fleming Loop turf conversion\, and deliberately left the rest until it has another year of growth data.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_02052026-575\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/576

It considers a $415\,000 purchase of land at 325 Wagstaff Road\, a consultant for the South Park Community Center renovation\, and a first-reading rezoning at 313 Raleigh Street. An eight-item consent agenda covers a Main Street facade grant\, street resurfacing funds\, and condemnation for the Sunset Lake Road widening.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_05192026-560\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/sgWOsDMy9ig?feature=share\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/2364

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina adopted its 2026-27 budget\, and for the first time this year the board did not agree. Fourteen residents spoke against it\, most about the Hilltop Needmore Town Park.\n\nThe board also authorised Wake County to collect its property taxes\, awarded the South Park Community Center renovation\, and heard that the police department has passed an external risk review.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_06012026-562\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/iHIO5Zc-qVk\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/568

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Meeting of the Parks & Rec Advisory Board
DESCRIPTION:Parks & Recreation Advisory Board\n\nA short advisory board agenda built around two items: the parks project list for the 2027 budget year\, and a staff presentation on a splash pad.\n\nNo minutes have been published for this meeting\, so the agenda is the only record of it.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_06082026-569\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/600

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nParking in the North Lakes subdivision was the night's business. Residents had asked for the restrictions to cover every street in the neighbourhood\, and the board wrote the ordinance street by street.\n\nAlso on the agenda: a small downtown rezoning\, a 76-acre annexation on Wade Nash Road\, the annual audit contract\, and proclamations for Juneteenth\, Parks and Recreation Month and the America 250 anniversary.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_06162026-571\nWatch: https://www.youtube.com/live/NC2VzbqiR2w?si=l_peawPGh9EgzHVW\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/567

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's commissioners picked the firms to build two parks and heard what the town is spending to treat its sewage. The wastewater figures are the larger story: $69 million to double the Terrible Creek plant and a $44 million share of a $111 million expansion in Harnett County.\n\nNo public hearings and no consent agenda. The board also took an update on water restrictions\, which the town must follow whenever Raleigh imposes them.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_07072026-572\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/nr9XSmjVC6Q?feature=share\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/566

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Planning Board Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Planning Board\n\nFour rezonings\, and one of them drew the neighbourhood out. A builder wants to replace a derelict duplex at 417 and 419 Raleigh Street with three detached houses\, which needs a rezoning to Town Center Residential\, and seven residents came to object to the scale and the ten-foot setbacks.\n\nThe board also took a 1950s convenience store that wants to sell fuel\, a 27-acre planned unit development on Sunset Lake Road\, and a small rezoning on South West Street. It recommends\; the town board decides.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_07202026-576\nWatch: https://youtu.be/iL7oGPG7TSA?list=PLrJHixxvd6CijcgAMYU4BRNPmtggTmUIU\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/608

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Meeting of the Parks & Rec Advisory Board
DESCRIPTION:Parks & Recreation Advisory Board\n\nFuquay-Varina's Parks\, Recreation and Cultural Resources Advisory Board has a routine August 10 agenda: a bylaws review\, updates on fall 2026 youth athletic program registration\, senior recreation programs\, and FY27 parks projects\, plus a rundown of upcoming community events including a ribbon cutting for the Alston Ridge Greenway Trail and a string of Movies/Music on the Green (FM2FV) concerts.\n\nNothing on the agenda is a contested decision\; only the agenda was available\, not minutes\, so no outcomes are recorded here.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08102026-579\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/1445

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's Board of Commissioners took up five land-use public hearings on August 18: two voluntary annexation petitions and three zoning map amendments\, one of which (Sampson-Bladen Oil Company\, Piney Grove Wilbon Road) pairs a rezoning with a land use plan amendment. A sixth rezoning\, for 7151 Sunset Lake Road\, appeared later on the agenda as a first reading rather than a hearing. The board also opened with a Fire Department helmet-retirement presentation honoring Battalion Chief William Johnston and Fire Captain Sam Golightly\, and its administrative reports include a $20.1 million guaranteed-maximum-price amendment for Public Service Center Phase II with Edifice General Contractors.\n\nOne annexation petition -- for Collin Grimes\, Jennifer Grimes\, David and Dava Davis\, and Rebecca Shelton Davis on Wade Nash Road (ANX-2023-13)\, left over from a previous meeting -- is marked on the agenda itself as an item to be tabled\, rather than acted on. Because only the agenda was available for this meeting\, not minutes\, the outcomes of the hearings and the consent agenda are not recorded here.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08182026-580\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/sXH9VKfDHK0\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/1410

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
DESCRIPTION:Parks & Recreation Advisory Board\n\nThe Parks and Recreation Advisory Board picks back up a service project or initiative it tabled at its last meeting\, then takes updates on recreation programs and the town's FY27 parks projects. Staff also walk the board through five upcoming events\, from a ribbon cutting on the Alston Ridge Greenway Trail to two FM2FV concerts and the two-day Celebrate FV festival in October.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_09142026-583\nWatch: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/1013/Watch-Meetings\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3864

SUMMARY:Town of Fuquay-Varina: Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nFuquay-Varina's commissioners hold a public hearing Monday on rezoning 4.77 acres at 6126 Dwight Rowland Road for WakeMed's planned freestanding emergency department\, which the state approved in July 2025. A second hearing would rezone 48.81 acres at 7151 Sunset Lake Road for Envision Homes as a planned unit development of up to 105 small-lot homes and townhouses. The town also annexes its own 1.5-acre water tank site on Wilbon Road. A fourth hearing\, on Gemstone Homes' rezoning at 602 and 606 South Main Street\, is to be tabled.\n\nTwo rezonings tabled from earlier return. M/I Homes asks to rezone 27.63 acres on Sunset Lake Road\, inside the Jones-Johnson-Ballentine Historic District\, for up to 48 detached homes\; the site's pond is a high-hazard dam under a state violation notice and is to be drained. A three-lot row house plan at 417 and 419 Raleigh Street is the other. The Planning Board recommended all four rezonings unanimously. On consent\, the board closes 22 finished capital projects and moves about $3.5 million in general funds to the Sunset Lake\, Purfoy and Main Street intersection and two new parks.\n\nAgenda: https://www.fuquay-varina.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10052026-587\nWatch: https://youtube.com/live/FO4Ek7mN0PI\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/4702
