DESCRIPTION:Town Council Work Session\n\nGarner's council got its first look on August 25 at the master development agreement for the downtown site next to the Garner Recreation Center\, and the deal has an unusual shape. The town would sell part of the recreation center parcel to developer LMG by private sale\, LMG would build a parking garage\, and the town would then buy that garage back as a condominium unit for $5.5 million. The town would lease spaces in it to LMG for residential tenants\, LMG would run it day to day\, and the town would carry long-term maintenance and repair. A vote is tentatively set for September 15.\n\nThe council also previewed two rezonings before they reach a hearing. The Wake County Board of Education wants 38.98 acres at 6301 Jones Sausage Road moved from Light Industrial to Residential 2 near East Garner Middle School. A developer wants 2.6 acres on TV Tower Road moved from Rural Agricultural to conditional commercial mixed use for a convenience store with fuel pumps.
