About 4\,700 county households — 8\,700 people — received SNAP in September\, and all of them faced a 50 percent reduction until the programme was fully funded again.\n\nThe money went out in four parts: $15\,000 each to the Interfaith Council in Chapel Hill and Orange Congregations in Mission in Hillsborough to stock their pantries\, and $12\,000 each to Porch Chapel Hill and Porch Hillsborough for special food distributions held two days later\, on November 8. DESCRIPTION:Board of County Commissioners\n\nOrange County's commissioners denied a 49-lot conservation cluster subdivision on 78.11 acres at 1039-UT NC 86 North on November 18\, voting 6-1 that the rezoning is not in the public interest. It is the case the county planning board had recommended for approval\, and the split later prompted that board to ask for regular meetings with the commissioners so it can find out what happens to its recommendations.\n\nThe objections were about density without services. One commissioner said 49 houses on 20\,000-square-foot lots is urban-style development that would be acceptable with water and sewer but does not fit an area without them\, or the county's principle of preserving rural landscape. The chair said the open space here is fragmented and does not achieve what clustering is for\, and that she found no greater public interest served given the septic\, traffic and rural character issues.
