SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThis is Wake County's first Board of Commissioners meeting of a new term\, opening with the election of a board chair and vice chair and recognition of the outgoing chair and outgoing county attorney Scott Warren. Most of the substantive business runs through the consent agenda: two federal grants that would each add a full-time position (one for a mental health project\, one for an accreditation program)\, Wake Transit funding agreements covering GoWake Access and SmartRide service\, added funding for the county's pharmacy program\, a multiyear agreement with East Carolina University\, an interlocal agreement with municipalities\, and a services agreement for the county's Historic Preservation Commission and Landmark Program.\n\nThe one item requiring a public hearing is a rezoning of two parcels totaling nearly 14 acres from low-density residential (R-80) to industrial (I-2). The board also takes up a large slate of appointments to advisory boards - including its own Energy Advisory Commission and Fire Commission\, plus county seats on several municipal and regional boards - and closes with a closed session.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2025/12/6198_A_Board_of_Commissioners_25-12-01_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/32

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County's Board of Commissioners handled a routine consent agenda at this meeting: a $12.1 million construction contract for renovating the Hammond Road Detention Annex\, a fund transfer of uncommitted rollback tax revenue into the county's capital fund for agricultural conservation easements\, a resolution accepting a donation of historic maps to NC State's special collections\, 2026 appointments to regional boards\, and Tax Committee recommendations on gross receipts penalties and refund requests. The board also adopted a proclamation for the Cary Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity's Day of Service.\n\nOn the regular agenda\, the board received (without formal action) the county's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for fiscal year 2025\, then worked through nine board and commission appointments spanning adult care\, workforce development\, fire services\, historic preservation\, housing\, juvenile justice\, and planning boards\, plus a preview of vacancies coming open in February 2026. LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners approve a five-year non-emergency ambulance franchise renewal for North State Medical Transport and hold a public hearing on up to $25 million in Limited Obligation Bonds. SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Growth\, Sustainability\, and Economic Strength Committee
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThe Growth\, Sustainability\, and Economic Strength Committee takes up three briefings at this meeting: a staff review of the county's Business Development Grant Policy (last adopted in December 2023)\, an update on data center activity in Wake County\, and a progress update on the Triangle Bikeway regional trail project. None of these are votes\; they are informational items for the committee.\n\nThere is nothing routine-only about this agenda\, but nothing calls for a public hearing either. Residents who follow data center siting in the county or the regional bikeway network are the audience most likely to find something new here.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/3/6228_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-03-23_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/46

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThis is the Wake County Board of Commissioners' regular meeting for April 6\, 2026. Most of the substantive business is on the consent agenda: added funding for the GoWake Access paratransit program and the Nurse-Family Partnership\, a technical correction to a school capital-improvement resolution\, construction contracts for two Holly Springs library projects and a solar system at the Marbles Kids Museum/IMAX Theater\, a plat-review designation for Morrisville\, and tax-committee recommendations on penalties and refunds.\n\nThe board also opens with three ceremonial proclamations (Fair Housing Month\, Nepal Day\, and a fraternity charter-day recognition)\, takes public comment\, fills several advisory-board and commission vacancies\, hears routine reports\, and closes with a closed session before adjourning. Nothing on this agenda is a contested land-use or budget item.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/4/6213_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-04-06_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/48

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Work Session
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThis is a briefing session with no votes on the agenda: commissioners hear four staff updates. The largest is a schematic design presentation for Phase 3 of the county detention center\, a three-story\, 220\,000-square-foot addition adding about 600 beds and staff support space\, currently estimated at $175-210 million with a projected opening in early 2030. Staff also present an update on the countywide Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan\, organized around three core service areas (open space\, recreation and leisure\, and education)\, and noting the county has lost about 3.6% of its tree canopy since 2010.\n\nTwo shorter items round out the session: an update on the 2026 employee benefits RFP process\, covering medical\, dental\, vision\, and Medicare Advantage plans\, with finalist interviews running into May and board recommendations expected in June and July\; and a strategic initiative on homelessness built around a 2026-2027 'direct to housing' surge\, informed by new federal Continuum of Care renewal funding of roughly $3.3-6.1 million for Wake-area projects.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/4/6214_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-04-13_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/50

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners passed a 24-item consent agenda August 17 covering an opioid-settlement spending resolution\, a $1\,548\,850 construction contract to rebuild the North Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility\, a forest-land protection agreement with the state\, a Sheriff's Office off-duty scheduling contract\, easements conveyed to the City of Raleigh\, and capital-improvement appropriations for Wake County Public School System and Wake Tech. On the regular agenda\, the board held a public hearing confirming a special assessment roll for road improvements at the Preserve at Long Branch Farms subdivision\, approved an amendment to its Affordable Housing HOME-ARP allocation plan reprogramming money toward permanent housing\, updated its Business Development Grant Policy to add a new incentive tier for large ('transformational') projects\, and held a second public hearing on proposed amendments to WakeMed's Articles of Incorporation and transfer agreement -- a governance matter for the public hospital authority.\n\nEvery recorded item passed. The record available for this meeting reports each motion as carried but does not include the individual roll-call tally\, so whether any of these votes were split is not captured here. The board also worked through a slate of appointments to boards including the Fire Commission\, Historic Preservation Commission\, and Library Commission\, then closed session.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/8/6242_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-08-17_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/68

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County planning staff are asking the Board of Commissioners to deny a rezoning of 10.42 acres at 4605 Windy Knoll Road\, on the northeast edge of Raleigh between Knightdale and Rolesville. The owner wants the tract moved from residential R-30 to conditional industrial. Staff found the request inconsistent with the county comprehensive plan\, and the Planning Board voted 6-2 to recommend denial after taking the case up twice\, in June and again in August. The board holds the hearing Tuesday with two draft ordinances in front of it\, both written to refuse the petition.\n\nMost of the rest is consent business\, 22 items of it. The county would buy an agricultural conservation easement on the Dean Farm near Wendell\, sign a memorandum with Duke Energy covering the Harris nuclear plant\, and adjust affordable housing loans on Carlton Place Apartments on East Davie Street and on Fisher Grove. A second public hearing covers the county's 2028 application to the state community transportation program. Commissioners also set employee health and dental rates for 2027 and consider a resolution capping the fire tax district levy.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/9/6243_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-09-08_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3125
