SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County's board is taking up a fairly routine April agenda\, with most business bundled into the consent agenda: a multi-year library software contract\, an agreement with the state on sediment control\, an opioid-settlement participation resolution\, $31.7 million in library bond proceeds from the 2024 referendum\, easements for two Crabtree Creek flood-control structures\, and schematic design approval for a phase 3 expansion of the county detention center.\n\nOn the regular agenda\, commissioners will approve 2026 loan recommendations steering federal and county housing funds toward several low-income tax-credit apartment developments in Raleigh\, sign off on schematic designs for a new Wendell public safety station and the West Wake Solid Waste Facility in Morrisville\, and vote on a resolution opposing any state move to cap or restrict county property tax authority.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/4/6215_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-04-20_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/51

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners consider buying two Athens Drive parcels in Raleigh for a new Southwest Raleigh library\, choosing between that site and an alternative on Tryon Road. They hold public hearings on renaming a stretch of Ligon Mill Road to Old Ligon Mill Road and on Ordinance Amendment OA-01-26\, which would reorganize Wake County Development Services within the Unified Development Ordinance. The board also considers the schematic design for Crowder County Park Expansion Phase I and the Wake County Farmland Preservation Plan.\n\nA 15-item consent agenda includes construction contracts for the North Regional Library roof and the South Wilmington Street Center kitchen\, a $202\,766 U.S. Department of Justice grant\, and the proposed bond referenda for schools and Wake Technical Community College for the November 2026 ballot. The board also meets in closed session on the County Manager's and Interim County Attorney's compensation.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/6/6233_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-06-15_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/60

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners passed a 24-item consent agenda August 17 covering an opioid-settlement spending resolution\, a $1\,548\,850 construction contract to rebuild the North Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility\, a forest-land protection agreement with the state\, a Sheriff's Office off-duty scheduling contract\, easements conveyed to the City of Raleigh\, and capital-improvement appropriations for Wake County Public School System and Wake Tech. On the regular agenda\, the board held a public hearing confirming a special assessment roll for road improvements at the Preserve at Long Branch Farms subdivision\, approved an amendment to its Affordable Housing HOME-ARP allocation plan reprogramming money toward permanent housing\, updated its Business Development Grant Policy to add a new incentive tier for large ('transformational') projects\, and held a second public hearing on proposed amendments to WakeMed's Articles of Incorporation and transfer agreement -- a governance matter for the public hospital authority.\n\nEvery recorded item passed. The record available for this meeting reports each motion as carried but does not include the individual roll-call tally\, so whether any of these votes were split is not captured here. The board also worked through a slate of appointments to boards including the Fire Commission\, Historic Preservation Commission\, and Library Commission\, then closed session.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/8/6242_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-08-17_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/68

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners hold three public hearings Monday evening. Two of them take the Town of Wendell out of the county fire tax district at Wendell's request\, because the town plans to fund and run its own fire department. The county would abolish the 1999 district on 30 June 2027 and recreate it without Wendell the next day. Staff expect the district to lose about $800\,000 a year and do not expect the fire tax rate to rise. The third hearing is on the schedule of values for the 2027 revaluation\, which will reset more than 88% of a $316.2 billion tax base. The board is due to adopt the schedule on 19 October.\n\nThe board also votes on buying 3211 Bramer Drive in Raleigh for $4.15 million and giving it to the Women's Center of Wake County. The Women's Center runs the county's drop-in shelter there now and would convert the former charter school into up to 20 shelter units for women. The purchase depends on Raleigh granting a special use permit. Money comes from $5 million budgeted in 2024. The consent agenda adds $278\,777 for emergency road repairs at the closed North Wake Landfill\, bringing that job to $1.03 million\, and accepts $375\,673 in Sheriff's Office grants.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/10/6253_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-10-05_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/4680
