SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThis is Wake County's first Board of Commissioners meeting of a new term\, opening with the election of a board chair and vice chair and recognition of the outgoing chair and outgoing county attorney Scott Warren. Most of the substantive business runs through the consent agenda: two federal grants that would each add a full-time position (one for a mental health project\, one for an accreditation program)\, Wake Transit funding agreements covering GoWake Access and SmartRide service\, added funding for the county's pharmacy program\, a multiyear agreement with East Carolina University\, an interlocal agreement with municipalities\, and a services agreement for the county's Historic Preservation Commission and Landmark Program.\n\nThe one item requiring a public hearing is a rezoning of two parcels totaling nearly 14 acres from low-density residential (R-80) to industrial (I-2). The board also takes up a large slate of appointments to advisory boards - including its own Energy Advisory Commission and Fire Commission\, plus county seats on several municipal and regional boards - and closes with a closed session.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2025/12/6198_A_Board_of_Commissioners_25-12-01_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/32

The board also adopted a proclamation for the Cary Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity's Day of Service.\n\nOn the regular agenda\, the board received (without formal action) the county's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for fiscal year 2025\, then worked through nine board and commission appointments spanning adult care\, workforce development\, fire services\, historic preservation\, housing\, juvenile justice\, and planning boards\, plus a preview of vacancies coming open in February 2026. SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nThis is the Wake County Board of Commissioners' regular meeting for April 6\, 2026. Most of the substantive business is on the consent agenda: added funding for the GoWake Access paratransit program and the Nurse-Family Partnership\, a technical correction to a school capital-improvement resolution\, construction contracts for two Holly Springs library projects and a solar system at the Marbles Kids Museum/IMAX Theater\, a plat-review designation for Morrisville\, and tax-committee recommendations on penalties and refunds.\n\nThe board also opens with three ceremonial proclamations (Fair Housing Month\, Nepal Day\, and a fraternity charter-day recognition)\, takes public comment\, fills several advisory-board and commission vacancies\, hears routine reports\, and closes with a closed session before adjourning. Nothing on this agenda is a contested land-use or budget item.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/4/6213_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-04-06_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/48

LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners hear the county manager's recommended budget for the fiscal year that starts in July\, which sets up public hearings later in May. SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners passed a 24-item consent agenda August 17 covering an opioid-settlement spending resolution\, a $1\,548\,850 construction contract to rebuild the North Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility\, a forest-land protection agreement with the state\, a Sheriff's Office off-duty scheduling contract\, easements conveyed to the City of Raleigh\, and capital-improvement appropriations for Wake County Public School System and Wake Tech. The record available for this meeting reports each motion as carried but does not include the individual roll-call tally\, so whether any of these votes were split is not captured here. The board also worked through a slate of appointments to boards including the Fire Commission\, Historic Preservation Commission\, and Library Commission\, then closed session.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/8/6242_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-08-17_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/68

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County planning staff are asking the Board of Commissioners to deny a rezoning of 10.42 acres at 4605 Windy Knoll Road\, on the northeast edge of Raleigh between Knightdale and Rolesville. The owner wants the tract moved from residential R-30 to conditional industrial. Staff found the request inconsistent with the county comprehensive plan\, and the Planning Board voted 6-2 to recommend denial after taking the case up twice\, in June and again in August. The board holds the hearing Tuesday with two draft ordinances in front of it\, both written to refuse the petition.\n\nMost of the rest is consent business\, 22 items of it. The county would buy an agricultural conservation easement on the Dean Farm near Wendell\, sign a memorandum with Duke Energy covering the Harris nuclear plant\, and adjust affordable housing loans on Carlton Place Apartments on East Davie Street and on Fisher Grove. SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Work Session
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nCommissioners open the work session with the schematic design for a new $214 million campus at the Wake County Office Park\, combining General Services\, Library Administration and Corporate Training space with a three-tier parking deck. The board is set to vote on the design at its September 21 meeting.\n\nThe board also revisits its priorities for the 2027-2028 legislative session\, weighing pending state bills that would cap property tax increases and shift SNAP administrative costs onto the county\, and returns to retreat discussions on a possible new strategic-plan goal for aging services.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/9/6255_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-09-14_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3809

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County's commissioners take up the county's part in the proposed combination of WakeMed and Atrium Health on Monday afternoon. WakeMed is asking the board to approve amended and restated articles of incorporation and a second amendment to the transfer agreement\, both required before the two systems can join. If the board agrees\, the chair would be authorized to sign\, subject to federal regulatory approval and whatever terms the county attorney requires.\n\nThe board also opens the 2027 revaluation. Staff submit the proposed schedule of values\, standards and rules\, and ask the board to publish notice that both the market value and present-use value schedules are available for inspection\, with a public hearing set for October 5. Two public hearings are on this agenda: a business development grant for Novartis Innovative Technologies\, under the incentive policy the board adopted on August 17\, and the 2025 consolidated annual performance and evaluation report on the county's affordable housing spending. On consent are a five-year VMware licensing agreement through Presidio Networked Solutions\, the schematic design for new General Services and Library Administration buildings at the Wake County Office Park\, and a sublease of part of the Falls Lake project so Blue Jay Point County Park can keep operating.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/9/6244_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-09-21_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/3124

SUMMARY:Wake County: Board of Commissioners — Regular Meeting
LOCATION:Wake County Justice Center
DESCRIPTION:Board of Commissioners\n\nWake County commissioners hold three public hearings Monday evening. Two of them take the Town of Wendell out of the county fire tax district at Wendell's request\, because the town plans to fund and run its own fire department. The county would abolish the 1999 district on 30 June 2027 and recreate it without Wendell the next day. Staff expect the district to lose about $800\,000 a year and do not expect the fire tax rate to rise. The third hearing is on the schedule of values for the 2027 revaluation\, which will reset more than 88% of a $316.2 billion tax base. The board is due to adopt the schedule on 19 October.\n\nThe board also votes on buying 3211 Bramer Drive in Raleigh for $4.15 million and giving it to the Women's Center of Wake County. The Women's Center runs the county's drop-in shelter there now and would convert the former charter school into up to 20 shelter units for women. The purchase depends on Raleigh granting a special use permit. Money comes from $5 million budgeted in 2024. The consent agenda adds $278\,777 for emergency road repairs at the closed North Wake Landfill\, bringing that job to $1.03 million\, and accepts $375\,673 in Sheriff's Office grants.\n\nAgenda: https://wake.legistar1.com/wake/meetings/2026/10/6253_A_Board_of_Commissioners_26-10-05_Meeting_Agenda.pdf\nWatch: https://wake.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=18\nDetails: https://ncgovwatch.com/meetings/4680
