Next week
What local government has scheduled, 6–12 September
Every meeting this week has been held, so this is next week. What happened this week.
Morrisville is the only board deciding anything this week, and it decides a good deal. The council takes three public hearings Tuesday the 8th and votes on two of them the same night: an economic incentive grant agreement with Novartis Innovative Technologies, and the annexation of two Church Street parcels for the Hamlet development. The third, a special use permit for a Wake County convenience center, gets its hearing Tuesday and comes back for a vote later. The same council returns Thursday the 10th in work session for a staff recap of what the 2026 General Assembly session did to towns like it, and a joint presentation on redevelopment from the deputy town manager, the economic development director and the planning director.
Two towns take up historic buildings. Chapel Hill's Historic District Commission has the week's densest single agenda: eight separate properties seeking certificates of appropriateness, from Fraternity Court outward, plus a batch of administrative approvals for routine maintenance. Nobody alters a building inside a Chapel Hill historic district without one, so this is the meeting where eight households find out. Cary's Historic Preservation Commission meets Wednesday on the draft local landmark report for the Ivey-Ellington property, which is the strongest protection the town can put on a private building, along with another monthly update on the Nancy Jones House after August's break-in.
Morrisville's Senior Advisory Committee returns Thursday to the space problem that has run through its meetings all summer. The senior center holds just over 3,000 square feet and is at capacity. A plan to expand into two neighboring suites collapsed in August when the shopping center's manager told the town those leases run to 2028, so staff are now negotiating for the Petland building in the same center, which could be available in autumn 2027. Holly Springs' parks committee meets the same night to elect a chair and vice chair and to decide whether to join WinterFest and the Tree Trail at North Main Athletic Complex on 4 and 5 December. Orange County's economic development advisory board meets at Sonark Farms in Hillsborough rather than in a county building, giving over the last forty minutes of ninety to a presentation and a tour.
That is seven agendas out of twenty-seven meetings on the calendar. The other twenty, including city council meetings in Raleigh and Durham, town councils in Cary, Apex and Holly Springs, Wake Forest's planning board and three Wake County school board sessions, have posted nothing yet. For most of them that is simply the calendar running ahead of the clerks this early in the week. Raleigh is the exception and the persistent one: its agendas are not reachable at all, so its eight meetings this week will stay dark even after everyone else posts.
34 boards meet across 14 governments, with 138 agenda items on file.
Written when 27 of this week's meetings had posted an agenda; 34 have now. The counts below are current.
