Upcoming legislative action
What the North Carolina House and Senate are scheduled to take up, with a link to every bill on the calendar. A chamber's calendar is usually published a day or two before it convenes, so a session listed with nothing under it has not posted one yet.

Unfinished Business - Reconsideration Of Vetoed Bill
-
SB 50 Freedom to Carry NC.
Establishes permitless concealed carry for most North Carolinians 18 and older (with an optional permit system retained), bars carry for people meeting 14 disqualifying criteria such as a pending felony indictment, raises criminal penalties for firearm assaults on law enforcement and other first responders, and increases survivor benefits for the families of first responders killed on duty. The Governor vetoed the bill; it is back on the House calendar, likely for an override vote.
-
HB 437 Drug-Free Zones/Unauthorized Public Camping.
Originally created enhanced drug-offense penalties within 100-300 feet of homeless shelters; Senate amendments expanded it to bar public camping statewide unless a local government designates specific sites meeting state-certified standards for safety, sanitation, and behavioral-health services, with residents and business owners able to sue for an injunction if a site falls short. The Governor vetoed the bill; it is back on the House calendar, likely for an override vote.

Bill numbers link to the General Assembly's own bill page, which carries the text, the sponsors, the full history, and a plain-language summary written by the UNC School of Government. "Live agenda" is the chamber's own dashboard: it advances through the day as the chamber works down the calendar, so it is the one to have open while a session is running.
