Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

Park manager Taylor Jackson gave the committee a full account of Bass Lake Park and Sugg Farm. The division spends $883,157 a year and takes in $212,000. Summer nature camps filled all 277 places and recovered 120 percent of their cost. Concessions and the bait and tackle counter turned $29,722 gross profit at 202 percent cost recovery. Boat rentals rose to 742 from 666 the year before; conference room rentals held steady at 160, with fewer weddings and more business meetings.

Volunteers did the work the town had budgeted $90,000 for: a quote to paint the Sugg Farm fence went unspent because 170 volunteers gave 660 hours across six paintings between April 2024 and October 2025. Across the year 353 volunteers gave 1,151 hours on 19 outings. The memorial bench program has put 16 benches at Bass Lake, two left to sell, saving the town more than $30,000 at about $1,900 each.

On Eagles Landing, staff reported building foundations poured with the gym's pre-cast panels due the following week, the park loop road roughed in, and contracts let for athletic lighting and artificial turf. Park amenities are due in June 2027 and the recreation center in September 2027.

The council liaison reported the development proposal for the Ting and Mims sports and entertainment district finalized, with responses due by March 2026 and the top one to three going to the council. Fall programs drew 6,400 participants across 463 activities, with 650 waitlisted, mostly in athletics, and $454,000 of revenue. Eight of nine members attended.
