What's on this agenda

Chapel Hill's Community Design Commission reviews building and site design. It recommends design approval rather than deciding land use itself. On October 28 it takes up final plans for two projects. One is a medical office building for UNC Health Care at 300 Village Center Drive in Carraway Village. The other converts an existing building at 200 Meadowmont Village Circle into a Chase Bank branch.

The commission also considers whether to recommend any of its current applicants to the town council to fill vacant seats. Its agenda says four of its seven seats are filled, leaving room for up to three recommendations. It also takes up its August minutes.

Four of the commission's five listed members attended; Craig Longnecker was absent. The commission adopted its agenda and approved the August minutes, both by unanimous vote. It then unanimously recommended approval of final plans for two projects. One was a medical office building Development & Construction Insight proposed for UNC Health Care at 300 Village Center Drive in Carraway Village. The other converts an existing building at 200 Meadowmont Village Circle into a Chase Bank branch. Members had asked about stormwater and drainage around the detention pond on the Carraway Village site before voting.

On its own vacancies, the commission's agenda said four of its seven seats were filled. Members voted unanimously to recommend three applicants to the town council: Kimberly Andrews, John Biggs and Rachel Oommen.
