Chapel Hill held its annual Legislative Breakfast with the Orange County delegation to the General Assembly: Representatives Allen Buansi and Renee Price, and Senator Jonah Garson. Mayor Anderson described the town's recovery from Tropical Storm Chantal, progress on missing-middle housing under the LUMO rewrite, and investments in bus rapid transit and greenway construction. She and Town Manager Theodore Voorhees both asked the legislators to preserve local authority over property taxation, warning that proposed state tax caps would limit the town's ability to fund police, fire, transit and other services.

The legislators discussed the state budget impasse, calling it their top priority, and raised concerns about proposed property tax levy limits and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit reform. Staff and partner organizations, including UNC-Chapel Hill and the Central Pines Regional Council, gave updates on economic development, public safety, sustainability financing, mobility projects and regional planning. No votes were taken.
