What's on this agenda
Knightdale's Board of Adjustment hears two variance cases on January 27. The first, VAR-2-25 for 6845 Knightdale Boulevard, has an unusual wrinkle: the same property was denied a nearly identical parking variance in 2014, and North Carolina law only lets the board reconsider a matter it has already decided if circumstances have materially changed. So the board must first decide whether that material change exists before it can even take up the substance of the new request, which seeks relief from commercial parking design and setback standards. If the board finds a material change, a hearing on the variance itself is set for February 24.
The second case, VAR-3-25, is more straightforward: the owners of 9000 Horton Mill Drive, a rural-residential lot in the town's extraterritorial jurisdiction, are asking for two variances so they can put a driveway onto Old Knight Road and place an accessory building in their front yard, both of which the current ordinance restricts. Neither case has a recorded outcome, since the meeting has not yet happened.
