What's on this agenda

The public hearing on the county manager's recommended 2026-27 budget, followed by three appointment discussions. The manager presents, the hearing opens and closes by motion, and the board takes no decisions on the budget itself - those come at the 4 June work session.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The hearing runs to more than three hundred lines of the record, which is what a budget hearing looks like in a county where the previous year's revaluation is still raw and the rate is heading from 63.83 cents to 68.05.

Afterwards the board took up appointments to three bodies: social services, the visitors bureau advisory board and the broadband task force. The last of those matters more than it sounds - the task force spent the following months deciding how to spend the final $800,000 of federal pandemic recovery money before a December 2026 deadline, and recommended extending service to 105 more households.

How the votes went

Procedural only: opening and closing the public hearing and adjournment, each unanimous. No budget decisions were taken.
