What's on this agenda

Three hours and fifteen minutes at the Southern Human Services Center, starting with the twelve fire district tax rates and then working through public safety and human services department by department - courts, criminal justice resources, emergency services and the sheriff, then aging, mental health, child support, civil rights, health, housing, libraries, social services and the opioid settlement fund.

No public comment is taken at a work session; written comments go to the board's email address. The county publishes a detail worth knowing: anyone who needs transport to a board meeting can book a demand response ride from county public transport by noon the day before, free.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The agenda gives each department a page range in the recommended budget, which is how a reader can follow what the board is looking at. Forty-five minutes go to the fire districts before the departments start.

Several of these came back with consequences. The health department's clinic was reported beyond capacity in 2025 with a surge in maternal health patients and significant vacancies. The opioid settlement fund's allocation was recommended by the advisory committee on 2 June and adopted on 16 June. Civil rights and civic life is the office taking back the fair housing programme from the federal housing department.

Who spoke

No members of the public spoke.

Read from the records the government published after the meeting. Members of the public are private residents and are not named or indexed.
