Moorman briefed the board on the Open Space Plan and its intersection with the Land Development Ordinance and Imagine Cary Plan; members discussed possible developer incentives, GIS mapping, wildlife corridors and public safety, rooftop green space, and how HOAs factor into the plan.

Environmental Outreach Coordinator Sarah Justice said staff is still weighing whether to join Bee City USA, which carries a $500 annual fee, against continuing to build out Cary's existing fee-free Garden for Wildlife program, and is refining messaging for the fall Leave the Leaves campaign. Urban Forester Moorman said staff is reworking Green HOA educational materials and will bring them back to the board to test in members' own HOAs. Council Liaison Jack Smith reported the town council approved a $510.9 million FY26 budget on June 26 and invited members to a Special Town Hall meeting July 22. Staff also announced board member Brittany Richards is running for Cary Town Council.
