The council adopted its consent agenda unanimously, 7-0, including the Yates Store Road annexation and rezoning (which the Planning and Zoning Board had found consistent with the Imagine Cary plan by a 9-0 vote) and a slate of advisory board appointments effective October 1. Before that vote, the council amended the agenda to remove the 22-REZ-20 Alston Commons PDP rezoning at the applicant's request; Councilmember Lori Bush said the applicant is working with staff on a phasing condition to prevent the project's car wash from being built ahead of the rest of the development. Town Manager Sean Stegall paid tribute to Councilmember Jack Smith, marking 36 years on the council, the longest tenure of any elected North Carolina official in modern history, as Smith heads into his final year in office. The meeting lasted just ten minutes.
