Most of the meeting was reports, but two things in it will change what older residents can get. The county adopted its 2025-26 budget the week before, and it ends the Aging department's takeaway lunch programme. The programme runs through August while staff move homebound recipients over to Meals on Wheels of Orange County. The same budget adds money for community-based services staff training and for in-home services. Staff described federal and state money as the larger unknown: the state insurance counselling programme has not been cut so far, the Senior Employment Program is expected to be cut in a way that hits both the Passmore and Seymour centres, and Home and Community Care block grant funding was named the major concern before the federal year ends on 30 September.

The outdoor fitness installation at the Seymour Center is finished and was due its final inspection from the Town of Chapel Hill that day, which is what releases the certificate for public use. A landscaping contractor's mower did about $3,000 of damage to it, caught on camera, and the manufacturer could not send anyone to repair it before 23 June. Two instructors have been hired and a ribbon cutting waits on the inspection.

Also reported: the Seymour Center theatre will be renovated with a private gift of about $125,000, with lighting, curtains and flooring named as the priorities; construction on the Perry Hills mini park in Efland began in April; and the aging workgroup on employment, after a steering committee meeting with county and town staff doing similar work, was advised to go ahead and hire an employment specialist. Staff are developing an aging education curriculum for eighth graders across five schools with the UNC Community Practice Lab, for the classroom in spring 2026. Two board appointments go to the commissioners for confirmation on 17 June.

The board approved the minutes of 13 May. Nothing else was put to a vote; the budget was adopted by the county commissioners a week earlier and came here as a report.

    Four workgroups reported. Outdoor spaces: the Seymour Center fitness lot, the Perry Hills mini park in Efland under construction since April, a disc golf course at Blackwood Farms, three added tennis courts at Fairview Park, an Eno River accessibility audit, and a countywide trails vision workshop.
