What's on this agenda
Cary's Historic Preservation Month committee met virtually for 40 minutes on April 1 and picked a chair for the year. Most of the session was fitting the May programme to what the town's communications team could support.
That list turned out to be substantial: updating the month's activities on the website, promoting the Cary History Hunt and generating URL codes so people can take part electronically, adding self-guided virtual tours and the African American history bike tour, and running an Instagram poll asking residents to identify historic buildings.

The committee worked through each event. The Cary History Hunt runs all month, and if printed versions can be produced in time, downtown businesses would be asked to hand them out at checkout; timing was the obstacle. The Herb Fest booth on May 3 needs two volunteers for each of two shifts, with handouts and giveaways matching what the commission had at its booth the previous year, and volunteer recruitment was put on the April commission agenda. The committee confirmed it should support Changing Faces of Downtown Cary on May 21, with one member speaking, and agreed to encourage commission members to attend.
