Chatham County's Recreation Advisory Committee met on 15 January 2025 and set out what the first phase of Parker's Ridge Park will hold: an inclusive playground, a shelter with a restroom, a pump track and a trail loop around the pond. Construction was expected to run from July 2025 to July 2026.

The committee also worked through two grant applications for the park and the timeline for the next round of recreation agency grants.

The Accessible Parks grant is a $500,000 matching grant, and the county asked for it against the inclusive playground, which covers 7,600 square feet. A playground designer was providing the design, staff planned to file on 3 March, and letters of support were to come from the Moncure Elementary principal, the school system's exceptional children teacher, the Journey League and Chatham Trades. The county learned in June that it did not get the grant.

The recreation agency grant round for 2026 was set to open online on 11 April with applications due 9 May, and an agency must have been in business at least three years to apply.
