What's on this agenda

Chapel Hill's Town Council holds a public hearing Wednesday on the town's own plan for 101 Weaver Dairy Road Extension, at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The 4.11-acre site would be rezoned from OI-2 to a conditional residential district so the town can replace its aging fire station and training facility with a new station and up to 105 affordable apartments. At least a quarter of the apartments would rent at or below 60% of area median income. The site sits beside a planned bus rapid transit station, and the Planning Commission recommended approval 5-0.

Two evidentiary hearings concern 101 E. Barbee Chapel Road in Meadowmont. One modifies the Meadowmont master plan to allow up to 12 homes there, and the other amends The Cedars of Chapel Hill's special use permit for an 8-unit corner condo addition. The consent agenda calls the council's 21 October hearing on the rewritten Land Use Management Ordinance and updates public housing admission and occupancy rules for federal HOTMA changes due 1 January 2027. The Downtown Partnership also gives its annual report on the municipal service district contract.

2 items were added after the agenda first went up

A late addition is how the public gets surprised: somebody reads the agenda, decides nothing on it concerns them, and the thing that does is added afterwards. They are marked in the list below.

The day counts are an upper bound. Governments publish what is on an agenda, not when each item was put there, so these are measured from when this site first saw the item — which can be later than when the clerk added it, never earlier.
