Advisory board meeting Parks and recreationPublic facilitiesRoads and transportation

What's on this agenda

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Advisory Board met to review the town's park construction program and hear a presentation on youth and adult sports. Nine capital projects were on the list, split between FY25 work already under contract and FY26 projects entering design.

The rest of the agenda was routine: minutes, public comment, staff updates and board comments.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The board approved its March 16 minutes unanimously. Nobody from the public attended, so the comment period passed without speakers. Adam Hairr, the athletics program superintendent, went through the town's youth and adult sports program.

On the FY25 list, staff reported the Action Park parking lot still in design with construction expected in summer 2026, and the Hilltop Needmore trail improvements bid and due to start in May. The Library Park picnic shelter has been removed and its replacement is being fabricated. The Alston Ridge Greenway is under construction and expected to finish by the end of the year. Of the FY26 projects, the Action Park field lighting replacement is complete, the Banks Road baseball field and lights should finish in July, and the South Lakes Greenway trail bridge goes to bid in June. Design work is under way on the South Park Community Center renovation and the Willow Spring Park master plan. The board meets next on May 11. It adjourned at 8:23 pm.
