Chatham County adopted a data center moratorium on 11 February. On 18 August the planning board voted 7-2 to require a conditional use permit for data centers on public water and sewer. The county attorney advised that the change conflicts with Senate Bill 382.
The commissioners opposed the 28-mile Enbridge gas pipeline by resolution in September, after a two-hour comment session on 5 August.

The development ordinance adopted in November 2024 is still not in force, because Senate Bill 382 removed the downzoning authority it depends on.
The commissioners spent 28 and 29 September at a housing retreat. On 5 October they take up a master plan for a government campus on 277 acres near US 64 West. The next night the planning board reviews Fearrington Preserve, a 372-acre Compact Community rezoning with a 574-lot plat.
