Durham City Council borrowed heavily for water this year: $218 million in utility revenue refunding bonds in March, $37 million for Williams Water Treatment Plant improvements in April and a $32.4 million design-build water plant contract in September. On 8 October it takes up $5.1 million more in waterline replacements.
Durham held a hearing on 4 May on a 24-month pause on data centers and cryptocurrency mining. No vote is yet on record.

In September the council held a hearing on an incentive agreement with AbbVie worth up to $9,312,721 and took its 53.1 percent share of the joint Emergency Operations Center with Durham County.
