The story so far
Durham County spent the spring and summer on data centers. Commissioners opened the question at a 4 May work session, and on 24 August the board held a 90-minute hearing on pausing new large data center applications.
The county is building and borrowing. On 14 September the board appropriated $48.9 million for a new Emergency Operations Center and backup 911 center. In April it authorized up to $240 million of refunding bonds, and on 28 September it approved the first step toward a $30 million wastewater note.
