Fuquay-Varina grows by voluntary annexation, and its big projects are water. An elevated tank on Wilbon Road cost $13.8 million. The board activated its water shortage response plan in April 2026 and reached Stage II conservation by July, and in May it proposed a 15 percent water and sewer rate increase and a 2-cent property tax increase.
Sixteen residents spoke at the 8 September meeting: six on a proposed rezoning of 417 and 419 Raleigh Street, eight on a no-parking ordinance in the North Lakes subdivision, and two on the town's Flock license plate reader cameras.

On 5 October the board holds hearings on WakeMed's standalone emergency department at 6126 Dwight Rowland Road and a 105-home planned development at 7151 Sunset Lake Road. The Raleigh Street case and M/I Homes' 48 homes on Sunset Lake Road return from the table.
