The committee picked locations for two sculptures and sent both to the wider board. It recommended the northeast side of the courthouse for the Moth Bench, on condition an accessible path is built to it, and Page Park for the Peace Pole. Both votes were 7-0.

Members also talked through what to do about public art in the 2026-27 year, and the downtown development director walked them through the history of the NC Main Street and T-Mobile grant opportunities and when the town might apply again. In comments, members said the volunteer recruitment event on July 14 drew a large turnout with a lot of interest in the Design Committee. The meeting ran an hour.

Four votes, all unanimous. The agenda passed 5-0 and the June 17 minutes 6-0 as members arrived. The Moth Bench location carried 7-0 on a motion by Josh Rudy seconded by Dr. Laura Boykin, and the Peace Pole location 7-0 on a motion by Boykin seconded by Rudy.
