The commission found both applications not incongruous with the district's special character, approving them by unanimous vote. At 603 E. Franklin Street, a representative for Renewal by Andersen showed water damage destroying the existing window's wood exterior and proposed a wood-composite replacement matching the original double-hung, mortise-and-tenon design; no one spoke in public comment. At 208 Hillsborough Street, architect Jody Brown presented a one-story rear addition for a primary suite, lower in profile than the circa-1910 colonial revival house and not visible from the street; a neighbor at 206 Hillsborough Street spoke in support, calling it consistent with the block.

Staff reminded the commission it must elect new officers, including eliminating the Deputy Vice Chair position, at its September meeting.
