Chapel Hill's Historic District Commission approved four written decisions finalizing certificates of appropriateness already granted, for 218 Wilson Street, 415 Hillsborough Street, 702 Gimghoul Road and 724 Gimghoul Road, in a single consent vote. Commissioners also approved the minutes of their October 14 meeting and removed an application for 304 N. Boundary Street from the agenda before taking up anything else.

In new business, the commission continued a proposed addition at 132 S. Columbia Street to its December 9 meeting rather than deciding it. Zell Hoole and Kal Fadem, both representing the architect, presented plans to add cafeteria space, a second-story balcony patio, bedrooms above the existing stairwell connector and reconfigured parking to a building that was rebuilt after a fire. Commissioners questioned the addition's massing and its visibility from Cameron Avenue; nobody spoke during the public comment period. The commission asked the applicant to return with more detail on massing and articulation, additional elevations, a site plan showing the addition set back from the existing building, and a rendering from the public right-of-way.

How the votes went

The four written decisions on Wilson Street, Hillsborough Street and Gimghoul Road were adopted in one consent vote, 5-0. The commission's other votes -- approving the agenda with 304 N.
