Tenant farm sites are among the hardest things a preservation commission tries to save. They were built cheaply, they were meant to be temporary, and the families who lived in them rarely owned them - so there is usually no deed trail, no architect, and little written record. A commission that spends its main discussion item on a Black tenant farmstead is choosing to document a kind of place the National Register criteria, which the commission itself noted favour fine buildings by known architects, tend to work against.

The commission also has two properties in trouble - preservation issues at an academy and an ice house - and revised cost estimates from the first phase report on the historic courthouse. By August those costs had turned into a funding delay set against court security requirements, two pressures on the same building.

The marker subcommittee meets on 27 April, which is the group that grew into a historical marker programme for the county.
