What's on this agenda

A training session rather than a meeting: staff walk recently appointed planning board members through the basics of land use regulation in Orange County. Attendance is voluntary and no quorum is needed, so nothing is decided.

Summarized from the published agenda. Read the agenda itself before acting on it.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

Worth recording because of what the board does the rest of the year. A planning board recommends on rezonings and ordinance amendments, and its members are volunteers appointed by township. When it split 7-4 on a rezoning in August, the disagreement turned on whether a proposal was consistent with the comprehensive land use plan rather than on whether the use was tolerable - exactly the distinction a session like this exists to teach.

Who spoke

No members of the public spoke.

Read from the records the government published after the meeting. Members of the public are private residents and are not named or indexed.
