What's on this agenda

Orange County's planning board elects its chair and vice chair for 2026, then takes up a county-initiated zoning atlas amendment moving a watershed overlay boundary. The parcel is about 19.4 acres, unaddressed, off Dodson's Crossroads at Arden Estate Court in Bingham Township.

The amendment shifts the line between the Jordan Lake unprotected watershed overlay and the University Lake protected watershed overlay. Watershed protection overlays are part of the zoning atlas, so moving one takes a zoning atlas amendment and a full hearing.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The board elected Lamar Proctor chair and Chris Johnston vice chair for 2026, both unanimously. Proctor was absent, so Johnston ran the meeting. Members also approved the December 3, 2025 minutes and reviewed the February and March planning calendar, on which staff said a listed Board of Adjustment meeting had been canceled for lack of business.

The board recommended a county-initiated zoning atlas amendment to the county commissioners, unanimously. The amendment moves the boundary between the Jordan Lake unprotected and University Lake protected watershed overlays on an unaddressed 19.4-acre parcel off Dodson's Crossroads, correcting a boundary discrepancy the property owners' surveyor found in 2024. The recommendation goes next to the county commissioners for a public hearing. No members of the public attended or signed up to speak.

How the votes went

The chair and vice chair elections, the December 3 minutes, the zoning atlas amendment recommendation and the adjournment all passed unanimously.
