Reviewing an attendance policy alongside a discussion of when the board should meet is a body diagnosing why people are not turning up. Several Orange County advisory boards took up attendance policies in this period - the Board of Adjustment and the transportation board both did in the same month.

The planning director's visit is the useful pairing: an economic development board that hears directly from the person administering land use regulation gets a clearer view of what is actually buildable than one that hears only from recruiters.

The community and rural development agent also reports, which keeps the rural half of the county's economy on an agenda that could easily be all industrial parks.
