County audience. Please stand. students and um I think you're going to be really impressed with the result tonight. Um there are some other thanks that we need to give uh starting with Chattam County Schools and Dr. Jackson and Mr. Poston uh for giving us the green light to start this event back up. Um we would also like to thank um the staff here at Chadam Central, Miss Mary Margaret Dark, uh Dr. Zachary Wills and Miss Erica Muth um for their hospitality today and providing a uh welcoming and um invited space for us to uh learn and sing today. Uh we'd also like to welcome and thank our friends from Galloway Ridge, the Chattam Education Foundation and the Chattam Arts Council. uh they took a a huge undertaking in helping us provide the music for today's event all across the county. So any of those folks who are here, would you please stand and be recognized? Well, let's give them [applause]

a lot of music uh for all these students and we're excited that uh we got to have that happen. Uh lastly, I want to thank you, the students, for how hard you've worked. You guys sound amazing. And uh are you guys ready?

without any further ado, our clinician comes from Wake County. Uh he is the arts coordinator in Wake County Public Schools. And uh our accompanist tonight is Miss Christine Bomb, who is the director at Courtney Middle School. So uh please help me welcome Mr. Jeremy Tucker.

And in everything [music] there is wonder, [singing] a [music] mystery to [singing] be undone. New [music] discoveries to find. Simple pleasures redesign. All things [music and singing] old and new beneath the sun. [music] Have you ever [music] chased the wind? Can you tell where it [music] will go or [singing] where it's been? You [music] could see the earth through its eyes. [singing and music] Do you think that it would come as a [music and singing] surprise? That in [music and singing] everything there is music, a meloy, [music and singing] a bit of song. Though it [music and singing] may not meet your ear, if you tune your heart to fear, you will recognize and [music and singing] sing along. [music] You will [singing] recognize and sing along. The [singing] song that nature [applause] So, just really quickly, uh, we have a soloist in our next piece. Her name is, it's not me. That's the good news. Her name is Kinsley Holidayiday. She is from North Chattam Elementary School and her music teacher is Miss Roland. Let's give them a round of applause.

And just so you understand what's about to happen, uh this piece is a jazz piece and jazz talk about a lot of different things. Scat singing which is where we imitate instruments. There's a part that includes improvisation which Kinsley is making up as she goes if she's going to sing. There's also a part that your children have asked me to invite you to sing. So they will give you the cue and you will know what to sing and we will listen for you cuz they're not going to sing with you. So thank you for that ahead of time. Okay. Thank you.

Hats off to your district for uh spending time uh with prioritizing elementary music, especially after co with uh things like this. This is not something that just happens very easily, though it might seem like that tonight. Uh this is one part of a very long process that your students your children have worked really hard. I wanted to make sure I thanked Miss Galloway uh and Mr. D who have been who organized everything. Could y'all help me give them a round of applause? [applause]

And then I had to also thank Miss Vaughn who's been our collaborative accompanist that has made music today. [applause] And I also want to thank Mr. D and Mr. Clark for joining us on instruments. I come from a district where we don't

consider arts extra, we consider it essential. Um, one of the things that we know when we look at work workforce development and even skills that hiring managers are looking for in um employees is collaboration, resilience, creativity, teamwork, all of those things that we have done all day today. and that truthfully arts provides the opportunity for all of your children to experience every day at school. Um, I know and I think you know that there is now a state graduation requirement for arts education where all students must take a course in middle and high school. And I applaud this district for making a very clear pathway for these children behind me to have every access available to them for arts starting in sixth grade and moving up to high school. So thank you for that. Chattam County, you should give them a round of applause. [applause] Last thing I will just share with you that it's obvious that Chattam County understands is that students that do have exposure to highlevel arts courses during their school day do attend school more. It's a fact. They have higher success rates and they also are students that are just empathetic and can work together with humans which is something I think all of us can always benefit and learn from. The last people I want to thank are the kids but are y'all good back here?

The last ones are these. You know I told them I think I wrote this down because we talked about some of our favorite foods. So after this they have really worked hard. I think that all of your all of your parents really I think they should take you to get either Frappuccinos, ice cream, or fried chicken. [laughter]
