Special or emergency meeting Schools and education

This board published no item list for this meeting, so the subjects above were read from the write-up rather than from an agenda.

What's on this agenda

Chatham County Schools' Board of Education held a special called meeting largely devoted to finalizing an employment contract for a district administrator. The only record available is an automatic caption transcript that begins several minutes into the meeting and is broken up enough in places that the specific position and contract terms cannot be confirmed from it.

Summarized from the published agenda. Read the agenda itself before acting on it.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Recording

The board took up and passed a motion described as making a contract 'official.' The person whose contract was addressed then thanked the board, saying he was honored to continue serving Chatham County Schools and looked forward to working with the board, staff, students and community. The board adjourned shortly after on a voice vote. Because the transcript is a partial, auto-generated caption feed rather than minutes, this account cannot confirm who the contract covers or its terms; a fuller record should come from the district's own minutes once published.

How the votes went

A motion to adjourn passed by voice vote (aye, no recorded opposition). An earlier motion making a contract official is referenced in the transcript but its exact tally is not recoverable from the available captions.

Full transcript

Automatic captions from the recording, "April 27, 2026 - Board of Education - Special Called Meeting". Runs 16 min. These are machine transcriptions, not a court record. They misrender names and figures — "Kildaire" comes through as "kill dare", and case numbers arrive as noise. Each timestamp opens the video at that moment, which is how a passage here gets checked against what was said.

We pay taxes. And if we might have the privilege of operating this public school system. And the thing about that we share the responsibility as a professional, and financial, and even moral. And we really can't talk about that without talking about exceeding their expectations. That's the responsibility to expand the access and opportunity for each student. That's the responsibility to fulfill the opportunities and benefits for each employee. And that's the responsibility for being accountable to the public we serve. So, let's maintain the positive activity toward the department. One problem is each of us can reach our full potential. I'm honored and grateful to continue to serve the Chatham County Schools. I look forward to working together with our Board of Education, our staff, our students, and our community as we write the next chapter of our shared story. I think of responsibility as that and opportunity. Responsibility and accountability. We know that we must remember what we must accomplish today. But we know what we must do. We know what we are called to do. Thank you for your partnership. Success and opportunity to Chatham County Schools. Thank you.
