The Wake Transit Plan allocates significant financial resources to Cary’s transit system (GoCary) to support the system’s growth of community-based, fixed-route bus services and infrastructure where the need exists. As part of this plan, Cary has purchased 21 parcels that will serve as the future location for a proposed Multi-Modal Transit Center. Ferrell Road in Chatham County have petitioned for annexation of the properties with a rezoning request for initial Cary zoning (25-REZ-04) to develop a maximum of 230 detached dwellings with a minimum lot size of 10,000 square feet and to connect to Cary utilities. The property at 310 Barbee Road is contiguous to the corporate boundary, and 974 W. Ferrell Road is noncontiguous to the corporate boundary; as such, the annexation for the former must be processed as a contiguous annexation, and the latter as a satellite annexation.     Speaker : Ryan O’Dell, Finance Executive Summary: State law requires Council action to declare and authorize the sale of items that have an estimated market value of more than $30,000. Cary has 11 assets that meet the scheduled maturity criteria and are ready to be declared surplus. The sale of these items is expected to generate approximately $330,000 in revenue for the Town. Recommendation : Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached “Resolution Authorizing a Sale of Items of Surplus Property.”
