Under watch list items, the council liaison said a draft economic development study is in progress and that the council would take up a proposed municipal service district at its meeting that week. A draft policy on TikTok and newer social media is under discussion. The town's chief innovation officer was heading to the Consumer Electronics Show, and Cary will have a booth at the Smart City Connect conference Raleigh hosts in March.

The liaison also reported that communication had gone out about Chatham Estates, the mobile home park whose residents must leave by the end of June, that the biannual survey opens January 12, and that an Imagine Cary update is coming.

Staff asked the board to think about what would help residents understand the town budget better. The board is also being asked to work with the human relations, inclusion and diversity board on a conversation about streaming board meetings.
