What's on this agenda

Durham's city council turned over on 4 December 2023. The meeting certified the 7 November municipal election, handed out election certificates, and gave outgoing members their remarks before they retired from the dais. Nate Baker, Javiera Caballero, Carl Rist and Leonardo Williams were then sworn in, the newly elected mayor spoke, and the council appointed a mayor pro tempore.

One consequence followed immediately: under other matters, Mayor Williams resigned the Ward 3 council seat he had held. The council filled it the following month, swearing in Chelsea Cook on 16 January. Three land use items also sat outside the consent block: a consolidated annexation for the 5802 South Miami Boulevard multifamily site, and zoning map changes at 618 Morehead Avenue and for Oaks at Gray. Durham's portal no longer serves the agenda document, so what each land use case covers is not in the surviving record.
