Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources staff told the board the scholarship fund is under-used and described a 2025 pilot that replaced flat-dollar credits with income-based discounts of 25 to 95 percent for summer camps. Staff plan to rename the program the Scholarship Fund and focus on marketing it to seniors.

Board members recommended that staff put up signage at Neighbor Up, advertise in Cary's program guide, set up a table at the Senior Health Fair, present to club presidents at the Cary Senior Center, and tie the GoCary transit service into outreach. Members agreed to share more thoughts on barriers facing seniors with staff liaison Michelle Barrett, who then briefed the board on February's engagement opportunities.
