What's on this agenda
Cary's Senior Advisory Board takes up two informational items at its April 1 meeting: an update on the annual assessment required to keep the Cary Senior Center's accreditation, and a rundown of the center's engagement opportunities for seniors in April. Neither item is a vote or a recommendation to the town council; both are staff briefings from Michelle Barrett, the town's program manager for Seniors and Aging.

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
Barrett walked the board through results from the Senior Center's annual assessment, a requirement for keeping its accreditation, and said 486 people completed the survey. Members and Barrett discussed a past Cary bond and whether a future one could fund another senior center or renovations to the current one, along with rental housing options for seniors, how seniors use technology, and difficulties with the town's Rectrac registration system. The assessment turned up requests for assisted listening devices, which Barrett said the center has started providing. Members also discussed using The Hive for senior programming.
Barrett then previewed April's engagement opportunities for seniors. In staff liaison comments, she described a new Cary police detective assigned to scams and fraud targeting seniors and a project pairing a low-vision specialist's graduate students with universal design in homes. The board adopted its agenda and approved its March 4 minutes without objection, and adjourned at 1:18 p.m.
