Wake County's school board took second readings on fourteen policies Monday evening, and the run of them is the story: equity, the selection of instructional materials and objections to them, religious-based exemptions from school programs, and eight separate purchasing and bidding policies including participation by historically underutilized businesses and minority business enterprise participation in construction contracts. Second reading is the stage at which a policy is adopted.

The board also received the 2025-26 testing and accountability results and heard a sustainable instructional device strategy.
