Chatham County's Climate Change Advisory Committee met by video on 26 February to decide what to send the commissioners about Duke Energy. On the table were a resolution to Governor Stein and a letter asking the North Carolina Utilities Commission to weigh local government views when it rules on Duke's carbon plan and nuclear proposals.

Ten members attended. The committee approved the letter to the Utilities Commission urging Duke toward carbon neutrality, and voted 8-1-1 to recommend an alternative resolution to Governor Stein rather than the original from NC Warn, preferring a more factual approach. Both go to the commissioners for their 16 March meeting.

Members also took updates on energy audits, the difficulties facing the Electrify the Triangle campaign, and the state's greenhouse gas inventory, with discussion of methane emissions and of data center proposals in the county. Staff reported that the draft request for proposals for the climate action plan would go to the commissioners in March.
