What's on this agenda
Cary's council picks up two things at Tuesday's work session that its quarterly meeting ran out of time for. One is the real estate discussion moved off the 15 September agenda, which covers 100 N. Academy Street and the Kildaire Farm Road properties; a member had asked that the materials arrive before the discussion rather than at it. The other is an update from the recommendations committee, the body the council created on 27 August to work through what the investigation into the town manager's office recommended.
The rest is short: the meeting schedule, an update from the interim town manager, and a closed session. Nothing on this agenda is a vote.

Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
Cary's council voted 6-0 at its 22 September work session to form a resident committee to recommend council pay. Each of the town's advisory boards will name a member, the council's Recommendations Committee will write the charge, and the work would start late this year or early next.
The council also turned to two town properties. It directed staff, 6-0, to get an appraisal of the Fire Administration Building at 100 N. Academy Street, to bring back municipal uses with their costs and possible deed restrictions if the building is sold, and to ask commercial partners for ideas. On a council-initiated item it asked staff, 6-0, for options to preserve 600 and 604 Kildaire Farm Road permanently as natural open space. The old library site was not presented. Councilmember Huang was absent, and no closed session was held. This account comes from the town's action agenda.
How the votes went
Fire Administration Building, 100 N. Academy Street (appraisal, municipal uses with costs, possible deed restrictions, commercial input): approved 6-0 on a motion by Richards, seconded by Bush. Options to preserve 600 and 604 Kildaire Farm Road as natural open space: approved 6-0 as amended, moved by Kohn-Johnson, seconded by Bush. Resident compensation committee: approved 6-0 on a motion by Bansal, seconded by Bush. Councilmember Huang was absent for all three.
