Commissioners approved $14.86 million in low-income housing loans across nine developments in Raleigh, Morrisville, Garner and Cary, including $1.2 million in added gap financing for The Canopy in Cary. They approved schematic designs for the Wendell North Public Safety Station, an eight-bay regional EMS and fire facility, and for the West Wake Solid Waste Facility in Morrisville. Every recorded vote on the night passed 7-0, including a resolution opposing any state constitutional amendment or law that would cap or restrict county property tax authority. The consent agenda, approved as a block, added $31.68 million in bond proceeds for library capital projects, the county's entry into a national opioid settlement, easements to Raleigh and Morrisville for two Crabtree Creek flood-control structures, and the schematic design for a phase 3 expansion of the county detention center.

During public comment, Brent Pinsent of the Cary Farmers Market, Stephanie Shell of the Boxstar Farm to Early Childhood Program and Ms. Boyd of Bambi Playschool asked the county to keep funding food-access and early-childhood nutrition programs. Shell said 24 children depend on the Boxstar program and cited transportation to the farm as a barrier. The board also recognized Wake County Public Health for its accreditation with honors and marked the May 1 retirement of Public Health's Kiri Lucas. In closed session, held under attorney-client and confidentiality exemptions, the board took no action.
