Board of Adjustment Regular Meeting

Town of Fuquay-Varina · Board of Adjustment

Regular meeting

What's on this agenda

A six-minute virtual meeting with no cases. The board approved minutes from August, its first meeting since, and adopted its 2026 calendar.

The one exchange worth recording came after the vote, when a member asked why this board meets so much less often than its counterparts in similarly sized towns.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The planning director's answer was a clean statement of what the board is for. The planning board handles the legislative side of land use; the board of adjustment handles the quasi-judicial side, meaning zoning challenges, variances and special use permits. It meets as needed, and how often that is depends entirely on how many requests come in. That explains the four-month gap since August.

She also flagged what is coming: a special use permit hearing, the board's annual training, and the appointment of a new member for the extraterritorial jurisdiction.

All six members attended, all of them virtually, along with the planning director, an assistant town manager, the town attorney and the deputy clerk. Both votes passed 6-0 and the meeting adjourned at 7:06 pm.

How the votes went

Both motions and adjournment passed unanimously, 6-0, with every member present.
