What's on this agenda
Chapel Hill's Town Council advanced its Homestead Gardens affordable housing development June 17, authorizing development contracts and ground leases with both Community Home Trust (for townhomes) and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County (for duplexes). The council also enacted a nondiscrimination ordinance amendment prohibiting discrimination in places of public accommodation and in employment, awarded a $2,363,978.32 construction contract to Lanier Construction for the Fordham Boulevard Sidepath between Cleland and Willow drives, and approved the recommended funding plan for the town's Human Services Funding Program. A left-turn restriction from North Street into the Rosemary parking deck was also enacted.
On discussion items, the council received and filed both a campaign contribution limitations discussion and a Complete Community implementation update without further action, then voted to continue its Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO) discussion to June 22 rather than take it up that night. The council filled seats on the Board of Adjustment, Historic District Commission, and Planning Commission, and closed for a personnel and property matter before authorizing, in open session afterward, an option extension agreement for the Wallace Deck. All recorded votes passed, several unanimously; the record does not specify roll-call splits beyond that.
