Meeting recap
What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes
A consultant from Tanner Valuation Group told the tax assessment work group on November 14 that vertical inequity is easy to identify and much harder to correct. The properties his analysis flagged as anomalous were ones not maintained or updated, picked out from among thousands, and the problem is that they had been treated differently in the valuation process.
The work group also took a grounding session on how reappraisal works in North Carolina, from the UNC School of Government and the state Department of Revenue.
How the votes went
The October 31 meeting summary was approved unanimously. No other votes were taken.
